Environmental Responsibility
We’re on a mission to change the fashion industry. We’re committed to making beautiful, comfortable clothes that are as gentle to the environment as they are on your skin. Here’s how we’re doing it.
Our Carbon footprint
At just seven metric tons, our maximum CO2-e per year is significantly lower than the industry average. Transporting finished goods from India to the US and to our customers accounts for the majority of our carbon emissions.
We’ve partnered with Grow Ahead to offset these emissions by investing in community-led reforestation projects worldwide. Through these efforts, we are planting trees to help communities thrive and sequester carbon for the long term.
Together with Grow Ahead, we’re we’re offering our customers the opportunity to join our mission by donating $2 at checkout to plant a tree and offset the carbon footprint of shipping their order.
Ethical Production
We believe in nurturing economic sustainability by collaborating with partners in India who pay fair and living wages, create a safe and healthy work environment, and invest in the overall wellbeing of the artisans. Sustainable change is about going beyond fair wages. That's why we provide our artisan partners with opportunities for community development and to further their skills. Learn about our social impact initiatives >
Our Process
Passion Lilie carefully selects Fair Trade partners who prioritize sustainability. Our garment manufacturers use 90% solar energy, and our block printers are carbon neutral, verified by Climes. We keep all of our manufacturing processes—raw materials, printing, and weaving—within close proximity to reduce carbon emissions.
Once our products are ready for shipping, they’re packaged in recyclable and reusable paper bags. Our mailers are made from 100% recycled content and all tags are attached with a small piece of twine.
All of our products are compostable at the end of their lifecycles.
Our Materials
We make our clothes from the cleanest crops available.
We're dedicated to using materials that do not harm the environment or the people who make or wear our clothes. We use durable natural fibers, organic cotton when we can, and nontoxic dyes.
Organic cotton is farmed without chemicals, fertilizer, or pesticides. Farmers use rotation techniques, helpful insects, and human labor to grow their crops instead of harmful chemicals.
Organic cotton clothing is the foundation of healthier ecosystems, safer working conditions for farmers and craftspeople, and cleaner, toxin-free fabrics for you to wear and love.
Our Product Lifecycle
We believe in quality over quantity, rejecting the wastefulness of fast fashion. While we know that sustainable fashion isn’t always affordable for everyone, we do our best to keep our prices fair and offer sales whenever we can—because we want our products to be accessible to people of all backgrounds.
Our designs are made to last, both in durability and style. We also provide tips on how to care for your garments so you can enjoy them for years to come.
Every Passion Lilie piece is made from natural fibers and is fully biodegradable. When you're ready to part with a garment, consider reselling or donating it to give it a second life. If it’s too worn out, you can repurpose it into rags or, if you're feeling creative, upcycle it into something entirely new! Sustainability isn’t just about how clothing is made—it’s about how long it lasts and where it ends up.
Washing and Care Instructions
Wash with mild detergent in cold water, wash colors separately. Yes, you can put them in the washing machine. If you do not want your garment to shrink, it is best to line dry the garment, no dryer.
Our products are all 100% cotton or made from modal, which is a plant based material, and due to the nature of these natural fibers, there will be a small shrinkage of about 5% if you put the garment in the dryer. There is little to no shrinkage if you machine wash in cold water and line dry the garment.
Ironing
If you line dry your garment, minimal to no ironing is needed. Passion Lilie uses good quality cotton that does not wrinkle easily. Our jersey cotton fabrics do not wrinkle at all.
Color Fast Dyes
All our fabrics go through a washing and curing process to keep the dyes from spreading.
