Passion Lilie’s new home has all your last-minute gifts!

Deep in the heart of the most vibrant corner of the world, Passion Lilie has a new (to us) brick and mortar storefront! Our giant wooden doors are open and from inside we can hear the bustling sounds of New Orleans – the bells of St. Louis Cathedral toll from the next block, people pass by speaking languages from around the world, a six-piece jazz band plays at the beignet shop around the corner. If you’re in New Orleans or heading to town for a visit, we hope you’ll stop by and see the new space! Until then, check out this sample of what we have in store. You can grab these last-minute gifts in store through Dec. 24, or shop Passion Lilie products on our website until Dec. 15 to have them arrive before Christmas.

  1. Beatrix Bell Peapod Jewelry

Beatrix Bell is a jewelry designer in New Orleans. She and Katie, Passion Lilie’s founder and designer, kept running into each other at local festivals where they had booths for their jewelry and clothing. For years, Beatrix and Katie dreamed of opening a business together, and now that dream is a reality! When Katie got word that 831 Chartres Street was available for rent, Beatrix was her first call. The pair immediately began to envision what the space would look like with their clothing, jewelry and accessories. Now, when you walk into the space, you’ll hear the tinkling of copper wind chimes and you’ll be met with the scents of fragrant Bayou Soaps and Mad Darling Candle Company. You’ll see walls lined with beautiful fair trade clothing designed by Katie and jewelry made by Beatrix.

One of our most popular collections in the store is Beatrix’ peapod jewelry. These special pieces make an excellent, thoughtful last-minute gift for moms and mothers-in-law. The peapod jewelry collection is created with sterling silver or gold dipped metals and freshwater pearls that represent children, friends or family members. The peapods are available with 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 peas.

  2. Passion Lilie Organic Scarf

Still need a perfect stocking stuffer, secret Santa gift, or just a little happy to get you through the holidays? A Passion Lilie scarf is an instant mood boost with soft, handwoven material and rich colors.

Hand made in India, Passion Lilie scarves do more than just look lovely. They provide work for artisans who have curated their craft for generations and help pass down ancient traditions like Kutch weaving. Passion Lilie’s Kutch scarves feature motifs characteristic of the weaving style, a miri border and festive tassels. You can check out the abundant styles available on our website, or pop by the shop to feel these works of art in your own hands.

  3. Algiers Point Oyster Company Ornament

There’s an ornament for everyone at the Algiers Point Oyster Company: the art afficionado, the proud New Orleanian, the animal lover, and the religious imagery devotee will all find something to cherish on their tree.  Beatrix Bell creates eco-friendly, upcycled oyster shell ornaments and home décor using Louisiana oyster shells. She started this business as a side-hustle during the Covid-19 shutdown, and now the oysters are a beautiful part of our new French Quarter shop.

Oyster ornaments are the perfect complement to gift cards for teachers gifts, or put them around a bottle of wine for a thoughtful hostess present. Whenever you need just a little something extra, add an oyster ornament and consider it done.

Pro tip: Oyster Ornaments add something special to the top of your wrapped gifts. Tie them with a bow and add a gift tag to make your presentation beautifully festive.

  4. Handwoven Button Down Shirt

Spring is coming, and with it all the merriment of Carnival season, festivals, Easter, and beach weather! Give the guy in your life something comfy and fashionable to wear for all the fun ahead. Passion Lilie’s button down shirts are hand woven or hand block printed in India. They have a gentle tapering at the waist with a straight and narrow profile and a broader fit in the shoulders to feel perfectly comfortable. It’s a thoughtful gift in more ways than one: he’ll love opening the soft, uniquely handmade garment and you can feel confident in a gift that provides fair wages for artisans around the world. It’s a win/win!

  5. Candles, soaps, scents, oh my!

You’ll have to stop by the shop to smell all of these delicious scents in person. If you’ve never tried a soap from Bayou Soap Company, grab one for yourself and your friends! They’re handmade in New Orleans from high quality ingredients and scented with essential and fragrance oils. Our customers love that they’re big enough to cut into smaller pieces and used as needed.

Fun fact: “Soapmaster General” William Terry, the creator of Bayou Soaps, is also a Grammy Award winning saxophone player and musician!

One whiff of a Mad Darling candle will send you to a different place and time. “Uptown Stroll” hearkens to balmy spring days in New Orleans when jasmine spills over every wrought iron gate and the air is heavy with blossoming citrus. Each scent takes you to a special place in New Orleans – City Park, Frenchman Street, and St. Charles are some of our favorites. For a festive gift, “Caroling in Jackson Square” is scented with Basalm and Frasier Fir, the most classic Christmas fragrances.

Our new shop also carries a selection of room sprays, bath salts, lotions and scrubs from Thistle Farms, a brand we love very much. For the person on your list who love to be pampered, pick up one of the emollient-rich and naturally fragranced hand lotions, a bath soak for aromatherapy and physical relief, and a room spray room spray for a pleasant aroma in any room, closet, drawer, or car.

Thistle Farms is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to helping women survivors recover and heal from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction. They provide a safe place to live, a meaningful job, and a lifelong sisterhood of support. When you purchase these delicious products, you’re helping to create sanctuary and economic opportunity for women survivors of exploitation.
