If you’ve seen our Instagram posts recently, you know we’ve got big things happening at Passion Lilie! We’ll be opening the doors of our second New Orleans location on Oct. 3, 2026.
We’ve loved being part of the French Quarter community and can’t wait to expand our footprint to Uptown New Orleans. Magazine Street has so many wonderful shops and restaurants – it’s truly an honor to be part of it all.
Why Magazine Street?
We’ve received a few questions about why and how we’re opening a new shop on Magazine Street right now. We understand – this economy has been unfriendly to small businesses and restaurants.
In fact, our dear friends at Feet First inspired this decision. For years, they supported Passion Lilie and gave our brand a home on Magazine Street. Rachel and her team introduced Passion Lilie to countless locals and visitors who have become loyal customers. We’ll always be grateful for the way they championed sustainable clothing in New Orleans and shared Passion Lilie with their community.
Losing Feet First was especially hard for Passion Lilie CEO and designer, Katie Schmidt. She adores Rachel, both personally and professionally, and began thinking about how Passion Lilie could continue the sustainable fashion presence Feet First helped build on Magazine Street.
One of the first people to support her? Rachel, of course! When you visit the new Passion Lilie shop, you may even notice familiar furniture. Rachel was one of the first to help make the new store possible by offering pieces from Feet First that could find a second life in our space. It feels special to carry a little piece of their shop into ours.
We’re excited to join our new neighborhood’s mix of locally owned businesses, art galleries, design studios, restaurants, and shops. It’s a vibrant slice of culture that only exists here in New Orleans, and it truly inspires our work. Our neighbors are like-minded boutiques and artists who have welcomed us with open arms. It’s truly an honor to be in their company.
Why a physical shop still matters
In the age of overnight shipping and two-hour deliveries, we think physical stores are more important than ever. A physical store is a place to connect with other people, to feel our soft, organic cotton fabric in your hands, see detailed block prints up close, and to actually try on a garment before bringing it home.
When you visit Passion Lilie on Magazine Street, you’ll meet people who know and love the story behind our products. You can ask questions about how things were made, learn more about fair trade and sustainable fashion, and maybe even run into Katie herself. An online shopping cart simply cannot replicate the value of human connections.
Our new space also gives us something we’re particularly excited about: room to gather. Our Magazine Street boutique offers beautiful spaces upstairs and in the courtyard, and we plan to use them to the fullest! We’re looking forward to hosting workshops, events, and community gatherings that bring people together.
Local roots, global reach
Passion Lilie is rooted in New Orleans, but our story stretches across the globe.
Our clothing is made through long-term partnerships with skilled artisans in India, where generations of textile knowledge inform the weaving, dyeing, printing, and sewing behind our garments. We’re committed to fair wages, safe working conditions, sustainable materials, and responsible production throughout each process.
While our clothes are made in India, they’re designed right here in New Orleans. Katie designs each collection in New Orleans and works closely with our partners in India to develop colors and prints. Katie’s inspired by life around us in New Orleans – from our Caribbean colors to our waterways to crawfish and second lines, Passion Lilie clothing showcases the best of our city.
We like to think Passion Lilie combines the best of both worlds – India’s heritage craftsmanship and New Orleans’ vibrant culture and creative spirit.
