What is the Fair Trade Federation?

“The Fair Trade Federation is a trade association of fair trade enterprises fully committed to equitable and sustainable trading partnerships. We strengthen and support our members in order to grow the global movement of trade that values the health of the planet, and the labor, dignity, and equality of all people.”

Fair Trade Federation (FTF) members are verified to ensure they meet the nine principles set forth by FTF (see diagram below).  Verification is extensive and requires annual renewals.  All of these efforts are in an attempt to alter the current trade systems to provide economic justice for historically marginalized groups, while also ensuring environmental stewardship.  

At Passion Lilie we are honored to be apart of this amazing community (and it truly is a community not a competition) of companies. The Fair Trade Federation has provided these companies with mentorship and support as we progress through this journey. It is not easy running a fair trade and sustainable business, but it is highly rewarding.
